Christian Dior: Designer Of Dreams Exhibition

Christian Dior is one of the most influential fashion designers of the 20th century. Therefore, it's no surprise that the much-talked-about Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams exhibition sold out within days (even after the exhibition was extended to 1st September). I was lucky enough to get my hands on a ticket and, after waiting for months, I finally got an insight into the world of Dior last weekend. Queue lots of photos...

A Day In The Life Of A Blogger

Although I'm not technically a full-time blogger, I have been using my time off between jobs to focus on growing my blog (and more recently YouTube channel). Therefore, I thought that it would be interesting to give an insight into what I've been getting up to on a day-to-day basis.

5 Books I Have Read Recently

Growing up I was such a bookworm - I could easily read a book in 2 days. I've always loved reading, however, as I've gotten older, it's become more difficult to find the time for it. I am currently in limbo between my old job finishing and my new job starting so I've been making the most of my free time by reading as much as possible. Here are all of the books which I have read recently...

Iconic Instagram Locations in New York City

One of the main things I was excited about when visiting New York City was shooting lots of photos for Instagram. It's a place I fell in love with through seeing other people's photos and I couldn't wait to get there and shoot my own content. New York City is arguably the most instagrammable place I have ever been - round every street corner there is something that you can take a photo of! I'm pretty sure my boyfriend was fed up with shooting photos of me by the end of our trip but that's what you get when you're an #instaboyfriend ...

One Year On From Graduation

Seeing so many graduation photos recently has got me thinking about how my life has changed since my graduation day and what I've learnt over the last year. It also got me thinking "how the hell was my graduation one year ago!?" - it's quite terrifying how quickly that year has gone! I feel like I have learnt some valuable life lessons since graduating that I can impart on anyone who's now worrying about their future after university.

Why You Need To Visit Split

It was only about a year ago that I first considered visiting Croatia - unlike a lot of the other places that I've visited which have been on my travel bucket list for YEARS. All of a sudden, the world and his wife seems to be visiting Croatia and I was keen to visit Split before it begins to feel too crowded with tourists. I decided on Split because it's a coastal Mediterranean city, which is a boat-ride away from islands such as Brac and Hvar and is also a bus-ride away from lots of other noteworthy places.

5 Days In Toronto

The last stop on my America / Canada trip was Toronto. A city which I had heard so many good things about and one that was recently named the 'fastest growing city in North America'. Toronto is made up of neighbourhoods each with their own distinctive character. We stayed in the King West Village neighbourhood, which was the perfect place to explore the city from.

4 Days In Montreal

Montreal is like no other city that I've visited before. It fuses the modernism of North America with traditional Europe, resulting in distinct neighbourhoods that make you feel as if you're being transported through time. With French being the native language in Montreal (don't worry, most people speak perfect English), this adds to the city's European charm, whilst still remaining Canadian at heart. I had an incredible four days in Montreal - here I'm going to run you through what I got up to.

6 Days In New York City

New York. The concrete jungle where dreams are made of. There's nothing you can't do. That song was playing on repeat in my head during my recent trip to New York City. It's such a magical city and it really does make you feel like anything is possible - I have never known a city to evoke such strong emotions before! This was my first time visiting the Big Apple and, after seeing the city in so many TV shows and movies over the years, I was determined to cram in as much of New York City as possible during the 5 and a bit days that me and my boyfriend spent there.

Two Festival Makeup Looks

Festival season is in full swing and for me that means one thing: glitter. I love that it is completely acceptable to cover yourself in glitter at festivals. However, what I didn't realise until recently is how damaging glitter is to the environment - glitter is a microplastic and can build up in animals. Therefore, this year I have created a couple of festival looks using biodegradable glitter.

Bali Body Self Tanning Mousse Review

As soon as the weather starts to get warmer, I long for a tan. However, living in England means that the weather is very unpredictable and so it's very difficult to build up a nice, natural tan. This is why I usually rely on fake tan to give myself a pre-summer glow (and to stop myself from looking like Casper the Friendly Ghost!).

Being An Introvert In An Extrovert World

I've been a massive fan of Samantha Maria for years now and one of her most recent YouTube videos - THE POWER OF BEING AN INTROVERT - really resonated with me. It got me thinking about my own experiences growing up as an introvert. I know many bloggers that are introverts so hopefully you might be able to relate to this.

The Low-Down On Multi-Level Marketing

Turns out those direct messages you get on Instagram inviting you to join an 'exciting business opportunity' and promising that you'll be able to 'make easy money from home' are in fact too good to be true. I get tonnes of messages like these and, even though I've never agreed to any of them due to feeling like there must be a catch, I've always been interested in finding out more about them.

Am I only buying it for my blog?

Sometimes it feels like the only way to succeed in the blogging industry is to always have the newest clothes, makeup and accessories. Although I will confess that I've always been a bit of a shopaholic (that's part of the reason I started my blog in the first place), recently I've found myself buying things because they'll "make a good blog post" rather than actually needing them. It's difficult to find the balance between an authentic purchase and sharing new products on my blog.

Making Time For Exercise

Since starting a full-time job, I've really struggled to fit in exercising. For the first couple of weeks I was so tired when I came home from work that I couldn't motivate myself to do any exercise at all. Prior to this, I'd got myself into a routine of working out a few times a week so it was really disheartening to see my fitness diminishing. Not only that but I also feel so much better when I've exercised. So I decided to mix up my workout routine to include things that I would genuinely be able to fit in / have enough energy for after work...

How To Travel On A Budget

A lot of people put off visiting their dream destinations because they think it will be too expensive. However, with careful planning and a few compromises (no you can't stay in a 5-star hotel overlooking Central Park on a budget...), you can turn your travel dreams into a reality. Having just booked an incredible trip to New York, Montreal and Toronto for this summer - without breaking the bank - I've picked up some tips along the way to pass on to you guys.

Favourite Lifestyle Books

And just like that one of my blogging goals for 2019 went out the window... It was going so well but general life stuff got in the way. If you read my last blog post, then you will know that I was struggling to secure a graduate job BUT I have finally secured my dream job. I'm so excited to start it and I'm also excited to get back into blogging regularly. In preparation for my 'big girl' job, I've been reading loads of lifestyle books to try to become the most productive and motivated version of myself. Here's a round up of my favourites:

"Thank you for your application but..."

If I had £1 for every time I've received a job rejection email, I would probably be so rich that I would no longer need to find a job. Ok, that may be a bit of an exaggeration. But I've had my fair share of "Thank you for your application but unfortunately you have been unsuccessful" emails. It's gotten to the point where I've received so many rejections that I'm struggling to keep motivated and positive because now I automatically think "What's the point in applying? It'll just be another rejection"...

Valentine's Day Makeup Look

Hey, it's me! In case the blog name confused you, I decided to rebrand from Emma Bought What to Emma Lisa because my blog has started to incorporate more lifestyle/travel posts and I felt like it's previous name limited me to only posting about products I had bought. So, now that's out of the way, today I've got a Valentine's Day makeup look for you. It feels like it's been ages since I've shared a makeup look with you and I was really excited to create this one.

Travel Bucket List

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

These cold, wet, rainy days have got me longing for warmer weather. I've been daydreaming about all of the destinations I want to visit in my lifetime - most of them have weather significantly better than England which is a bonus! So far, I've mainly visited places within Europe, however there are so many places I want to visit further afield so hopefully 2019 will be the year that I tick some of them off of my bucket list.

Sustainable Fashion Brands

Until watching Stacey Dooley Investigates Fashion's Dirty Secrets, I had no idea about the impact that the fashion industry has on the planet; it shocked me to find out that it is the second most polluting industry in the world. Everyone loves a bit of retail therapy and, particularly as a blogger, there's the pressure to keep up with fashion trends by regularly buying new clothes. However, it's important that us as consumers take a step back and reflect on our consumption habits before it's too late. There's recently been a surge in sustainable fashion brands so I've rounded up some of the brands that I've come across and how they're working towards sustainability in the industry.

Goals For 2019

Happy New Year everyone! Apologies for how quiet it has been on my blog recently. I feel like I fell out of love with blogging throughout 2018 - you can see how sparse my blog posts were by scrolling back through it... it won't take you long until you hit the 2017 blog posts! However, I've been feeling inspired recently (could be down to the whole "new year, new me") so I'm determined to try harder with my blog this year - without making it feel like a chore. Therefore, I thought that the best way to keep myself motivated was to write down some goals for 2019 and, by putting my goals out in the open, it'll make me more determined to persevere with them. So, what do I want to achieve in 2019?
