Making Time For Exercise

Since starting a full-time job, I've really struggled to fit in exercising. For the first couple of weeks I was so tired when I came home from work that I couldn't motivate myself to do any exercise at all. Prior to this, I'd got myself into a routine of working out a few times a week so it was really disheartening to see my fitness diminishing. Not only that but I also feel so much better when I've exercised. So I decided to mix up my workout routine to include things that I would genuinely be able to fit in / have enough energy for after work...

Bikini Body Guide
I'm sure most of you will have heard about BBG by Kayla Itsines - I would say it's one of the most talked about workout programs ever! It's a 12 week workout plan made up of 30 minute HIIT workouts (therefore perfect if time's not on your side). I love that the workouts are so intense that I'm sweating just as much as I would be after an hour long workout - TMI?

Nike Training Club App
If you're looking for an even shorter workout or you don't want to stick to a program, then you should download the Nike Training Club App. This offers workouts that are a variety of lengths and intensities so you can choose one that suits you. You can also browse by muscle group or workout type if you're looking for something specific. There's also the option to create your own workout plan in the app. I tend to use Nike Training Club when I don't have time for a longer workout.

Go For A Walk
When I don't have the energy to do a workout I'll usually go for a walk so that I'm still doing something active. I've set up my phone to count my steps, which motivates me to get my steps in! Also, it's the perfect time of year to get outside as the evenings are getting lighter and there's loads of pretty blossom around.

Join A Club
Another great way to make time for exercise is to join a club. You could join a running club, netball or dance group - there's loads of exciting ways to get some exercise in. I find it a lot more fun to go running with friends than on my own. Also, I'm less likely to cancel when I've agreed to exercise with others.

As you can see, there's loads of different ways that you can incorporate exercise into your busy schedule. The most important thing is to find what works best for you, so try out these suggestions and then decide which suits your lifestyle and fitness goals best. Have you got any tips for fitting in exercise?

  5. I'd recommend Youtube fitness videos as well! There are some channels like Popsugar that upload long workout videos and I love doing that, because I can do it in my home whenever I have free time.
