Christian Dior: Designer Of Dreams Exhibition

Christian Dior is one of the most influential fashion designers of the 20th century. Therefore, it's no surprise that the much-talked-about Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams exhibition sold out within days (even after the exhibition was extended to 1st September). I was lucky enough to get my hands on a ticket and, after waiting for months, I finally got an insight into the world of Dior last weekend. Queue lots of photos...

The exhibition covers all the way from 1947 to the present day, exploring the history and impact of the founder and the six other creative directors on the fashion industry.

The exhibition looks at Dior's relationship with travel, flowers and history, and how these have influenced the designs.

In addition to displaying some of Dior's most iconic outfits, the exhibition also showcases the accessories created by Dior and the collaborations which Dior has been a part of.

The exhibition also highlights the work of the six creative directors; Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Bohan, Gianfranco Ferré, John Galliano, Raf Simons and Maria Grazia Chiuri, which have taken over since Christian Dior passed away in 1957. This section shows how each designer has created unique collections for Dior by interpreting the vision of the label differently.

My favourite room of the exhibition was the Dior Ball. I am a sucker for anything sparkly so this section is heaven for me (I think I took a picture of every single dress in this room!). It is full of breathtakingly beautiful ball gowns - many have donned a red carpet - and it also features an impressive light installation.

If you weren't able to get tickets to the Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams exhibition, then hopefully you've enjoyed learning more about the exhibition / admiring the stunning dresses through this post. It was the largest fashion exhibition that I've ever been to and I loved not only seeing the dresses but also learning more about the history of Dior. I'm hoping there will be some more exhibitions like this on other fashion designers soon because I love learning more about fashion houses. Did you manage to get a ticket to this exhibition?
