Even though the run up to Christmas won't be the same this year (f*** you Covid), there are still plenty of Christmas decorations to see in London to give you your festive fix. The other week I walked around Central London and have rounded up some of my favourite decorations for this year. I also attempted my first Instagram reel from my walk so, if you haven't already seen it, head over to my Instagram to view these places in action!
LEADENHALL MARKET
The first stop on my walk was Leadenhall Market. This is a quaint covered market with shops and restaurants and a Christmas tree right in the middle of it all. On the day I visited we were still in lockdown, so none of the places were open and I was the only person walking through here. It was quite nice to experience this place whilst it was so peaceful, however I am sure it is a bit busier now! Also, fun fact for any Harry Potter fans reading this; Leadenhall Market was used as Diagon Alley in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.
COVENT GARDEN
Covent Garden is always one of my favourite places to visit at Christmas time. This year is no different as they still have the massive hand-picked Christmas tree and the Apple Market is decked out with giant baubles and mistletoe. There is also a selection of Christmas trees this year, which have each been decorated by a different company in Covent Garden. Whilst you are at Covent Garden, you should also head over to Seven Dials as their Christmas decorations do not disappoint either.
FORTNUM & MASON
Fortnum & Mason always put on a good display, however this is the first year I have actually gone to see it in real life. It was definitely Instagram that made me do this one - so many people were sharing beautiful photos of the building's facade. Each window on this building has a Christmas display from a different year. For now, I will stick to admiring Fortnum & Mason from the outside as my bank balance doesn't quite allow me to shop here yet!
This arcade is just down the road from Fortnum & Mason. It opened in 1819, so it feels like you are stepping back in time when you walk through it. The walkway is lined with little Christmas trees and baubles. There is also a Moet & Chandon drinks station if you fancy a glass of champagne on your walk.
I just recently went to London to see the xmas lights on Regents/Oxford St. Was so beautiful. I'll have to check out f&m and covent garden on Monday. x
